Planning a Short-notice Move

Is moving stressful? In almost all occasions it is. People find it tedious, frustrating and often quite scary too. Now multiply this tenfold when you talk about short-notice moves.

Indeed, moving on a short notice can be a real nightmare. Not only do you have all the stress that is associated with regular moving, but on top of that you have to juggle time, which you may not even have. So what can you do about it? In this article we will give you some advice from our personal experience. Hopefully, with it you will be able to organize your move without much trouble and who knows – perhaps you will avoid some of the stress as well.

Don’t Wait On Booking A Moving Company

Here at H2H Box we are huge advocates of DIY moves. We often talk about why you should rent moving boxes, how to pack them up efficiently, and other similar topics. However, the truth is that when it comes to last-minute moves, you really cannot depend on yourself all that much.

The reason for that is because you do not have a lot of experience with quick moves. You need professionals who can handle the move for you and do it in a timely and efficient manner. For example, most reputable moving companies will offer packing services. Their workers tend to be very experienced in that and can pack up an apartment in a couple of hours. If you have never done it before, you may end up spending an entire day packing. Obviously, the pros save you a lot of time.

Not to mention that you will not have to worry about figuring out where to get packing supplies. So you will also not waste any time doing that either. As you can see, professionals have the potential to save you quite a lot of time. So don’t wait around and start calling reputable companies in your area. Book the first available one, but definitely make sure it is reputable. You can do that by checking online reviews. Don’t be discouraged by a couple of negative reviews though. Every company has them, and they are not something to go by. Still, if there are many negative reviews, perhaps skip the company you are looking at, and go to the next one!

Fewer Items, Easier Move

The fewer things you have to pack, the easier the move will be. In fact, you will also end up saving money on it. So what can you do now? Go through your things and figure out which ones you do not need. If you have a bit of extra time, you can figure out how to donate them, or sell them. However, most likely you will have to just gift them to friends or throw them away.

Nevertheless, you should definitely declutter your home before the movers get there. That is one of the best ways to cut back on moving times and you will pay less for the move overall.
