Many people nowadays like to go DIY when moving and packing. There is nothing inherently wrong with that, but the all-around problem is that most people don’t know how to pack and move properly. We have already given you some tips on proper packing, but with the next series of articles we will go more in-depth. We will explain everything in more detail, but if at any step of the process you feel overwhelmed, than you shouldn’t fret. Our services are always available for you and you can have a worry-free process of moving right away and everything will be packed professionally.
So you have finally decided to go DIY. It may take a good chunk of your time, and surely quite a lot of energy, but you will at least know how things go through the entire process, and to be honest – it does save you money, if you are willing to put the extra time. And even if you don’t want to move by yourself, you can still pack yourself and reduce the final cost of the move. Still, in order for everything to go painlessly and with less worries, it is better if you do it correctly right from the start. Don’t underestimate packing techniques and tricks, because they are essential to getting everything right.
You need to estimate how much time it is going to take you to pack everything properly. Then add even more time, just to be on the safe side, without the need to prep everything in hurry, because you wouldn’t otherwise make it for when the moving truck arrives. Also packing should be done carefully anyway, because if your stuff isn’t well-packed and it proves to be a hazard of sorts, moving companies wouldn’t allow it on their truck. This is not some sort of trick to squeeze more money out of you, it is just a safety precaution, because your items are to be delivered safely and without damage, but if you have packed them in a way that isn’t going to minimize damage possibilities, then the company cannot be held liable for your negligence.
By now you should see that the process is in fact serious, and it takes a good amount of determination to go through it smoothly. Many people underestimate the importance of proper packing – you should not. That is why it is important to judge what is better packed by yourself and what should be left to professionals. Imagine if you have bigger appliances or even a mounted chandelier that you want to take with you – doing it yourself with no prior experience may prove to be quite the mishap. It is good to want to pack things yourself, but it is more important to know where your limits are and when is a good time to call professionals.
Now that we’ve given you the introduction, you know how important packing is. Stay tuned for our post next week, when we will give you more in-depth advice on the subject of DIY packing and moving.
