Meta: Are you considering a move? Then one of the things you will have to do when you get to it is pack your clothes. Learn how to do that properly!
On Packing Your Clothes
Moving is a part of life that we have to deal with often more than once. Some Americans move more than 12 times during the course of their lives! Depending on what you think about the process this may be good or bad for you, but we’d bet on the latter, as most people really don’t like moving. And one of the parts of moving that people don’t like is packing.
There are many things that can go wrong while packing, especially if you consider packing breakable items. Expensive electronics and valuables aren’t to be underestimated either. But most people think that packing their clothes is the least of their worries. However, we beg to differ and we will tell you why. But first, let us say that if you need moving boxes H2H Box is here to help. We can always provide you with boxes for your move.
All Clothes Are Not Created Equal
Most people think it is as simple as folding your T’s and your jeans. But this isn’t entirely true. Sure, you may not care if your t-shirts get all wrinkly or your jeans get a bit distressed (actually that’s something most people look forward to), but what happens to your dress shirts? Sure, you can iron them later, but you can also not bother with that. Ironing should be done as little as possible actually as it deteriorates the materials.
But leave dress shirts. If you have a high quality dress, would you simply fold it? We don’t think so. The same applies if you are packing a suit. There are some ways to fold suits, but if you don’t do them properly, you may need to pay for proper ironing, because getting a wrinkle off a suit isn’t that easy.
So, are there special boxes for clothes?
Actually this is a great question. And many have asked it in the past. This is why there is such a thing! It’s called the wardrobe box and you can rent it, especially if you have a lot of expensive clothing that wouldn’t fair being folded too well. Then again the wardrobe box is perfectly fine for all your shirt and dresses as well, even if you don’t consider them crème de la crème of the clothing industry.
OK, but can’t I just fold my clothes and stick them in a box?
Well, we’ve already told you – you can. Now, look up some guides online on how to do it properly, especially for suits! And there are other folding methods than the ones you know. Actually this may be quite fun for you to learn as well, as some people even refold their entire closet.
This article was more about folding than packing your clothes, but you see why this is so. Actually packing is not the issue – it is how well you prepare for it. So don’t leave everything for the last minute, do you fair amount of research and go pack like a boss. We know you can handle it! Don’t forget to give us a call if you need packing boxes and supplies!
